Biden caught between Chicago’s mayor and teachers


The COVID-19 dispute between Chicago and its teachers puts President Biden in a tough spot. Press Secretary Jen Psaki says the president’s position about schools during the ongoing pandemic remains the same. Chicago’s Democratic mayor also wants the schools open. But the city’s teachers union argues the classrooms are not safe during the current surge in COVID-19 infections. Mr. Biden is a major supporter of unions, especially teachers’ unions. And that puts him in a tough position regarding the Chicago dispute.
