Biden, China’s Xi to hold virtual meeting this year

President Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping are expected to hold a virtual meeting before year’s end. Details are still being worked out, but an agreement in principle for the talks has been reached after White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan met with China’s top diplomat. With tensions rising between the global powers, President Biden told Xi in a call last month that he would like for the two of them to meet. The White House has said it wants competition with China, not conflict.
