Biden has “confidence” in Fed chair, undecided on future

President Biden has confidence in the Fed chairman, but no decision on his renomination. The president will soon face a decision whether or not to re-nominate Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to another four-year term. Mr. Biden told reporters he has “confidence” in Powell, but acknowledged the central bank chief has critics. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren wants Powell gone, claiming he’s a threat to the economy. Powell generally receives high marks from economists and Wall Street for his actions in steering the economy through the pandemic recession.
