Biden opens climate summit, promising sharp cut in U.S. emissions

President Biden opened a global climate summit by pledging to sharply reduce U-S greenhouse gases.
Kicking off the summit, the president pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50 to 52 percent by 2030. He told more than three dozen world leaders that now is the time for action.
Mr. Biden promises new clean energy jobs, but many congressional Republicans worry about government overreach and a negative impact on the economy.
