Biden signs short-term funding bill, averts government shutdown

President Biden signed a temporary funding bill to keep the federal government open. Just a few hours before the start of a partial federal shutdown, the president signed legislation to keep the government funded through December 3rd. A large majority of Senate and House Republicans voted against it. The move gives lawmakers more time to pass spending measures that will fund federal agencies. Not only will the government remain open, there’s new funding for disaster relief and the resettlement of Afghan allies.
