Biden to tap U.S. petroleum reserve to help bring down gas prices

President Biden has decided to tap into the nation’s strategic petroleum reserve to help bring down energy costs. The president is ordering the release of 50 million barrels of oil from the country’s emergency stockpile. It’s a move being coordinated with other countries aimed at global energy markets. With Triple-A reporting gas prices at about 3-40 a gallon, the White House is hoping that using the oil reserve is the right tool to help ease the supply problem. The announcement also comes as Republican lawmakers have criticized the Biden administration hard for inflation reaching a 31-year high.
