Education Dept relaxes rules for student loan forgiveness program

The federal government is temporarily relaxing the rules for a student loan forgiveness program. The Education Department announced it will drop some of the toughest requirements around the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. That program has come under fire because it rejected more than 90 percent of applicants. Under new, temporary rules, thousands of teachers, social workers, military members and other public servants will be eligible for student loan forgiveness if they have made 10 years of payments.
