More U.S. troops to Afghanistan as government falls to Taliban

The United States has expanded its military presence in Afghanistan as Taliban militants captured the country’s capital city of Kabul. The Pentagon sent another one-thousand troops to Afghanistan, raising the U-S deployment to roughly 6-thousand. American forces are helping secure the airport in Kabul to safely evacuate U-S and allied personnel on civilian and military flights. President Biden spent the weekend at Camp David, where he received regular briefings on the rapid collapse of the Afghan government and the takeover by Taliban forces.
