Pfizer, U.S. health officials to discuss 3rd vaccine dose

Pfizer plans to meet with top U.S. health officials [MON] to discuss authorization of a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine. With the spread of the delta variant, Pfizer says booster shots of its COVID-19 vaccine would be needed within 12 months. The White House chief medical adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, says it’s too soon for the government to recommend another shot, which the CDC and FDA say is not necessary “at this time.” However, Fauci acknowledges “it is entirely conceivable, maybe likely” that booster shots will be needed.
