Publisher refuses to cancel Pence book deal after employee complaints

Simon and Shuster says it will publish former Vice President Pence’s autobiography after employees petitioned against it. After the Pence book deal was announced earlier this month, some Simon and Shuster employees signed a petition urging the publisher to drop the book. They accused the company of being “on the wrong side of justice.” But Simon and Shuster’s CEO rejected those complaints. In a letter to his staff, Jonathan Karp said “we come to work each day to publish, not cancel.” The autobiography will cover Pence’s Christian faith and his political career.
