Texas Primary
In Texas’ largest county, GOP turnout for the runoff primary appears higher than for Democrats. Details from Correspondent Bernie Bennett.
VERBATIM:
Election officials say turnout in Harris County, the most populous county in Texas, was expected to be about 70,000 for the primary runoff, roughly equal to the number of people who had voted early. And the Republican races have drawn more attention in Texas, including a high-profile contest for attorney general between the Trump-endorsed incumbent, Ken Paxton, and George P. Bush, the state’s land commissioner and only member of his dynastic family in public office.
Across the county, at a community center in a Democratic area of Houston, turnout was far lighter.
I’m Bernie Bennett reporting.
