U.S. to send medical assistance to India to help deal with COVID surge

The Biden administration is pledging to help India as it grapples with a surge in coronavirus cases. President Biden says “Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need.” He didn’t offer specifics in his tweet. But earlier the White House said the U-S is “working around the clock” to immediately deploy drug treatments and rapid diagnostic COVID-19 testing kits. The U-S also will provide vaccine components, ventilators, and personal protection equipment.
