White House offers federal assistance in Mississippi water crisis

The federal government is partnering with Mississippi officials in response to the state’s multiple water problems.Jackson, Mississippi, has no reliably clean drinking water after pumps at the city’s main water treatment plant failed. Recent flooding has also contributed to water problems. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says the federal government stands ready to assist. The governor has declared a state of emergency and agencies are distributing bottled water for 180-thousand people.
