Male, female or other? Vermont to offer choices.

Vermont State residents who don’t identify as male or female will soon be able to choose another gender on their driver’s licenses. Vermont Public Radio reports the Department of Motor Vehicles’ new computer system will allow a third gender option, though its not clear what letter will be used to designate it. LGBT advocates are cheering Vermont’s decision and predicting that the idea will spread. Oregon, California and the District of Columbia also offer a third gender option in their driver’s license systems. Washington State recently decided to offer a third gender option on birth certificates.
