Persecution of Christians in Azerbaijan continues.

Authorities in mostly-Muslim Azerbaijan are stepping up their persecution of Christians. International Christian Concern reports an increase in raids on unregistered churches, followed by hefty fines. The latest church to be targeted was Star in the East Pentecostal. Late last month police burst in during worship services, taking down parishioners’ personal information and filming everyone who was there. Christians make up a tiny minority in Azerbaijan where roughly 97 percent of the population follows Islam. The large fines often cause huge financial difficulties for churches, which tend to be poor.
